SIDELINE 03/1992
again a splendid cover for a new XMARKS record, all
thanks to Christian Mumenthaler (FLA covers designer,
among others!). The content is valuable as well. Cenotaph
is in the same taste of the wonderful Abattoir maxi.
A techno nightmare that will from time to time remind
you of Skinny Puppy (probably for the voice?), but X-Marks
The Pedwalk is becoming in itself a label of quality.
This maxi features 2 other tracks (Never dare to ask,
Helpless) + a cd bonus. It is rather time to discover
this band if you don´t know them yet.

Nachdem ihr Debüt-Album "Freaks" zu den
herausragenden Techno-Produktionen des letzten Jahres
gehörte, schicken X-Marks The Pedwalk mit "Cenotaph"
eine Maxi hinterher, die etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit beim
Hören erfordert als das druchweg eingängige,
meist harte und tanzbare LP-Material. Als tanzbar erweisen
sich auch die neuen Tracks, nur hat das Duo nun den
Schwerpunkt mehr auf sphärsiche Strukturen gelegt,
die eine bedrohliche Stimmung ausstrahlen und einen
interessanten Gegensatz zu den aggressiv-verzerrten
Vocals bilden.
HYSTERIKA 02/1992
Wieder einmal haben X-Marks The Pedwalk mit einer neuen
Maxi-Auskopplung zugeschlagen. Cenotaph ist ein wenig
mehr Dance-Floor orientiert, aber immer noch voll im
X-MArks-Stil. Sevren würgt sich die Vocals weiterhin
aus dem Rachen und ihr Ruf als beste deutsche Hardcoreelektroband
bleibt immer noch unberührt. Mein Tip: Never dare
to ask auf der B-Seite. empfehlenswert.
