W.I.T.I.A.K. --- I'm sitting down all around is still insignificance I feel like moving in a swap I draw a deep breath and get around to mediate what do I miss I indent to cover this but all my mind is close to this what I taste is a kiss You are still flying your way around it comes to my mind to blow your hair sentimental aside don't move time is now out of light.

TURN OF THE TIDE --- ebb tide flow it's a natural might rules my day and night and the way to go realize when the waves come in passing times and land to leave steps in life atmospheres and expecting quiet like a divine voice it holds life rhythm tight it's not in sight but it covers your mind it's aleading light you'll never hide it's the turn of the tide.

SWEEP HAND --- I sweep my rising quiet for imposing lights to leave behind my world - confined and confused- I need a place to find my timeless mind I feel I approach lavish space to free my timeless mind the sweep hand - the rush I stop the sweep hand the rush can't give you salvation what's the meaning of time.

THE PAST --- it's behind you it's lurking to leap against you not a monster memories live much longer a paralysed heart full of pain and full of sorrow could end today and never end tomorrow I've got to rest next it's the past that keeps me waiting for a vague time need a kick sick what's the trick to light reasons and to move out of the gap I'm trapped in a sad head and I gad about the past what's the name of my retreat invisible strength insane insane can't chop up the chain the background so far and I'm fallinf again the past is a mystery hard to forget and easy to kill it's not like history the page of a book I could rend when I look.

DRAWBACK --- some fine tunes from nowhere I rush at the gap a returning might to extinguish the light extreme my eyes open wide and I dive into a psychosis behind a haze a headlight on me I feel ravished and clean some kind of instinct- impressive- rules me anxious to know why I rummage out lies I move -systematic- out of the light I locate a place that will mirror my face and inquire into the mash of myself there's a wish-wash in my head a wit in my mind I don't think that's real a drawback of time It's not real just a drawback I wish to feel when lies come near and the time rules what I hear.

CLIP THE LINES --- I clip the lines I know that will move my sight I view the cycle out of me to step into another sphere.

My all time favourite Zoth act recurns, with some delay though, with a new album. Sure, one of today's highest profile electronic band, X Marks The Pedwalk, used they secret magic touch with song writing and technical ability to show to all these electronic bands searching in
vain for themselves that there is life in the genre yet. Highly skilled Sevren Ni-Arb presents on this new «Drawback» a wide spectrum of elec-
tronic based music of an undisputed quality. And if in comparison to the previous «Meshworb> masterpiece, this new opus sounds somewhat
less straight dancey, being much more based on atmospheres, this new CD is really overflowing with emotions. XMTP are once more taking electro to a new level with flowing sounds, fluttering bass lines, modern club rhythms, gentle dual male / female vocals, carrying melodies - all of a phenomenal quality. Notice as well that this album wins the award for the best digipack artwork ever released on the label too. X Marks
The Pedwalk definitely have cheir own energy! And it's easy to see why this band is so popular with superbly executed high-points tracks like
«Maximum Pace», «Turn Of The Tide» or yet «W.I.T.I.A.K.».There is once again a lot of talent displayed here!!A must have. (TSF:9 DP:8/9)TSF

Die Zeiten von Techno-Club und EBM haben Sevren 'Vi-Arb und Raive Yark a.k.a. X-Marks Thc Pcdwalk längst hinter sich gelassen (und das ist gut so!). Allein der Track „Ml X-marks the pedwalk,
ein über zwölf minütiges Medley aus Hits vergangener Tage legt Zeugnis darüber ab, was einmal war. Back to 1997...XMTP machen recht poppigen, modernen und experimentellen Electro. Auf "Drawback" ist zwar vereinzelt noch ein Hauch von Body-Music zu verspürcn, wer jcdoch mit den Techno Dance-Elementen auf „Meshwork" schon seine Probleme hatte der sollte sich vermutlich lieber die neue Funker Vogt-CD zulegen. Feinfühliger und weitaus professioneller als beim Vorgänger wird auf „Drawback" mit Techno Dance, Pop und Electro experimentiert. Miteinbeziehen heißt die Devise. So verwundert es nicht, neben herrlich-melancholischen Pop-Perlen wie "W.I.T.I.A.K." , "The Past" oder "Drawback" getragen von Estefanias lieblichen Gesang , tanzflächentaugliches wie "Maximum Pace" (a la ..Facer ) oder den ambientlastigen Zweiteiler "Time Tunnel" vorzufinden. "Drawback" ist ein Album, zu dem man nicht ganz leicht Zugang findet, das dafür aber Substanz besitzt. Bleibt nur noch die Frage offen, was dies alles mit XMTP zu tun hat? Nicht viel, wäre eine mögliche Antevort. Doch sucht
Euch diese am besten selbst.

ENTRY 12/97 - 01/98
Wenn ich richtig gerechnet habe, hat es fast zwei Jahre gedauert bis uns X-MARKS THE PEDWALK endlich Ihr neues Album präsentiert haben. Als kleine Erinnerung: Nachdem Sie im Frühjahr 95 mit "Facer" schon einge Fans mit unverzerrtem Gesang und innovativen Techno-Einflüssen verschreckten (aber dennoch einen echten Club-Hit hatten), brachen Sie bei "Meshwork" mit einem großen Teil der alten X-Marks-Taditionen, weshalb dieses "Cyber"-Meisterwerk leider etwas unterging. Mittlerweile hat sich diese Art von Musik etablieren können (auch in der ach so rigiden "schwarzen Szene"), aber wieder einmal sind Sevren Ni-Arb und Raive Yarx einen Schritt weiter. Anstatt ein ultra-hippes Breakbeat-Cyber-Rave-Album zu produzieren, hat man sich auf einige der alten Merkmale zurückbesonnen und sie mit den neuen Elementen zu "Drawback" verknüpft. Es gibt wieder mehr Text, die Stimmung der einzelnen Songs ist wieder melancholischer und die Techno-Sounds sind nicht ganz so knallig und nach außen gekehrt. Natürlich ähnelt "Drawback" keinem der "alten " X-Marks-Alben, läßt sich aber auch nicht si recht mit "Meshwork" vergleichen. Es ist ein sehr ruhige Album mit feinen Abstufungen, das sich eigentlich in keine Schublade pressen läßt. Nebenbei erwähnt ist auch Estefania wieder bei einigen Songs zu hören. Es wäre X-Marks The Pedwalk wirklich zu gönnen, daß sie diesmal auch selbst von dem Hype profitieren, der auch durch sie mitausgelöst wurde...Z
